The Situation

An academy needed an arts program for middle school students that was highly engaging, hands-on, and capable of teaching collaboration. They needed a curriculum structured so that student groups could conceptualize, write, film, act in, and edit complete projects on set without technical overload.

My Role

Curriculum designer & lead teaching artist.

What I Delivered
  • Designed a step-by-step experiential curriculum breaking film crew responsibilities into simple tasks
  • Created physical handouts, storyboard templates, and editing checklists for youth teams
  • Instructed students directly, training them to coordinate as crew members and finish silent film pieces
Impact
Ran successfully for six consecutive years as a core academy workshop. Students produced dozens of finished silent films, learned collaborative project mechanics, and consistently rated it as their favorite course.

The Situation

Educational technology often relies on rigid, expensive platforms that lock out custom extensions. Jason wanted to build a developer-friendly retro educational ecosystem where teachers, parents, and students could upload and share light educational video games that run on portable retro handheld hardware.

My Role

System architect, platform developer, & plugin engineer.

What I Delivered
  • Created RG35Go.com community repository for uploading handheld educational games
  • Programmed custom console plugins and a Godot export pipeline to compile games for handheld screens
  • Set up local ARM64 Docker Linux build containers to manage compiler constraints for retro consoles
